Reflecting back

Well the semester is finally over, seems the closer I become to graduating the faster the semesters seem to fly by.  It’s crazy to think Jan 3rd almost a year ago I was getting ready board a plane to make my 33 hour flight to
Australia. It all seems so long ago like a dream almost makes me sad.  I miss it all so much the people, the lifestyle, the view, that ocean!  Everything about that time of my life yet, it did come at an expense to me in ways I lost my boyfriend, some friends because after being gone so long and out of contact other then myspace or IMs it was as though we didn’t connect in the same way anymore. I had experienced something not many people get to, and I’m grateful for all my opportunities, and would not have changed it for anything in the world!
Yet, at the same time to talk about it now is harder, and I don’t do it as often anymore because I realize it’s a life that I have to let go of and my family is sick of hearing about it. I learned very valuable lesson though that sometimes you have to lose out on some things to experience something even better!

Is college really for sale? (Wesley Shumar Article)

Is college really for sale? I believe it is! Take a look at The college of Saint Rose for example the majority of students are white, females, middle class, New Yorkers, the college continues to allow this trend due to the fact, there marketplace is all of those characteristics. Granted the college is known for teaching, and majority of teachers are females may have something to do due with those stats as well. Yet, when a college mails out there brochures they have an idea of the individual there mailing it to, now in days its not just SATS scores that will get you into college. Money as well can play a major role in the college you are accepted into.  When the brochures come to your home it’s the pictures on the front of them that are most noticeable yet, isn’t college about the education more then the view. Yet, now in days the scenery is as or perhaps more important then the education being offered. I feel in my ways college is like choosing a spouse, the college must be attractive well rounded, offering you many things that you enjoy, being able to fit nicely with the individual you are, without having to alter or change for it.  I feel like anything one must shop around to found the best one for them, if you choose one and it doesn’t work for you then one has the hard decision to make whether to break up, or try to stay and pray that as time goes by it will get better  and end up working out.

Julie Lindquist Article

In society many classes exist, we don’t enjoy talking about them yet, they are there. Take a plane for example if we were all equal wouldn’t we all have the nice seats and we able to lounge. Yet, we all can’t but once you get on a plane you get to pass all the wealthier folks who can offer the best seats in the house. Julie Lindquist author of Class Identify and the Politics of Dissent: the Culture of Argument in a Chicago Neighborhood Bar has done research and believes there are classes everywhere in society even in a local bar. Yet, I guess this type of diversity in classes in some ways can’t be avoided we as people tend to naturally associate with individuals we share a common interest in many things with. Such as hobbies, sports, careers, etc… If a wealthier person goes to dine at expensive places constantly they must surround themselves with people that are able to offer that type of lifestyle as well. Classes in a society have been here from the beginning and don’t seem to be going away anytime in the near future.

Kramer

I was shocked to hear about the incident with Michael Richards the loveable and funny character “Karma” on Seinfeld. After the show ended back in 98 Richards has not been heard about much in media. He became a has-been yet, due to the reruns of “Seinfeld” on every night, on a few different networks he has not been  forgotten! Yet, now with the controversial incident over his racist remark made at The Laugh Factory comedy performance he never be seen again as the loveable “Kramer”. I guess for someone whom has done comedian all his life, one would tend to think he has had to deal with many rude people making fun of his acts in the audience. For a few individuals to completely throw off his whole act is hard to believe. An the to make matters worse he made rude an extrememly racist comments. Sad to see much a beloved actor for so long go out on the bottom.

Scientists develop male birth control pill

It’s finally the guys turn! British scientists are now developing a male birth control. The hormone-free pill, which prevents the ejaculation of sperm, could be on the market in five years. The pill, a single dose taken a few hours before having sex, affects contraction of the muscles that control ejaculation, but wouldn’t interfere with performance or orgasm sensation, researchers at King’s College London say. The result is a dry ejaculation. The scientists found the solution after noticing that drugs used in the treatment of schizophrenia and high blood pressure were effective at preventing ejaculation, according to a report in the British newspaper “The Guardian Unlimited.” If the pill passes clinical trial, it could be a significant benefit for people who are anxious about long-term effects from hormones. Yet, women have always been known to be in charge of the household, remembering where, and what everyone needs to do; and where the need to be. Men can barely remember where they place the car keys, how are they going to remember to take there “pill”. I myself rather have the responsible because nothing would happen to the man if he forgot to take the “pill” yet; the women would be the one to pay the price….pregnancy! I don’t know I just feel some men could in fact have motive and want to impregnate the women for various reasons. I just don’t know how well this would do on the market now in days with such a high rate of single women with children. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15937201/

Well today is Monday I can’t believe its going to be Thanksgiving on Thursday, time is really flying by. I must say this is def one of my least favorite semesters at Saint Rose between some of my teachers, and classes just not the greatest but hey it’s almost complete. I will have to take a class at HVCC over the intersession it’s for 2 weeks and counts as a three credit course which is intense yet, a good deal at the same time! I feel like my college life is coming to an end very fast, and it’s a more then bittersweet experience. I’m excited to graduate and begin a new chapter in my life yet, at the same time I love the college life so much and will miss it very much. I don’t want to be an adult yet! Why is it when were younger we want to be older, and when were older we wish we would have enjoyed our youth more. I guess until you can’t be 20 again do you begin to really understand how good you really had it!
